Advent and Christmas 2023
Advent and Christmas were celebrated in accordance with
Schneller traditions.
The season began with the making of advent wreaths and decorations for
the church and boarding homes.
The celebration of St. Nicholas Day followed on 6 December with
the usual Schneller gift of peanuts and tangerines after chapel.
The maintenance department assisted by Mr. Mohammad al Khodor and his
team with the students and trainers of the electricity departments
decorated St. Michael's church from the outside with lights making it a
magnificent sight at night.
From the first days of Advent, students and educators wanted to put up
Christmas trees very early in December. Schneller tradition stipulates
celebrating Advent first and only putting up Christmas trees after the
third Sunday in Advent. We had to compromise this year due to persistent
requests. Christmas trees were put up one week earlier, and
Mr. Wissam Saadeh and the boys of his boarding home put up and decorated the Christmas
tree of the Church after the second Sunday in Advent.
The boarding department celebrated Christmas on Wednesday 20 December
with a service of Lessons and Carols held at six o'clock.
The special Christmas dinner followed. Boarding homes
hosted teachers, trainers, and members of staff with their families.
We had over seventy guests this year, so we had to use the main dinning
room in Maria Schneller Hall for the boys of BBH 8 and their guests.
The kitchen staff prepared the special dinner for the occasion. This
year they had to prepare this delicious dinner for around 350 people.
That was definitely very hard work for only four people. We express our
sincere gratitude to them.

Santa Claus distributed Christmas presents to all the boarding students
after dinner.
The Christmas presents were bought with kind grants from TSSGF (The
Alumni Association of Theodore Schneller School in the USA), Dr.
George Fouad Haddad, and Dr. Nabih Fouad Haddad of NECB.
We express our sincere gratitude to
TSSGF, Dr. George Fouad Haddad, and Dr. Nabih Fouad Haddad for enabling us to buy gifts for all
our children.
The Academic Department held its Christmas program on Thursday 21
December at 10:15 AM. It was a very
nice program in which every class participated with a carol, poem, or
sketch. Carols were sung in Arabic, English, German, and French.
Everyone had a wonderful time.
We congratulate our students and teachers for the nice program that was
presented.
We especially thank our music teacher, Mr. Joe Abou Assli, for his fruitful
work with our students.
The last two periods of the last day before the Christmas holiday is
when teachers have festive activities with their students. This is
always a very joyful time in JLSS, and this year was no exception.
We thank our students, teachers, and members of staff for the joyful
Christmas celebration this year.
Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year!
